Clover College

This years Clover College will be held on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at the Whitehall Elementary School.

Registration is NOW OPEN and closes on Wednesday, October 24, 2018!

Clover College is THE perfect chance for you to meet awesome new people, make cool arts and crafts, learn something new, and see all the possibilities 4-H has to offer!  The event is open to ALL youth, K-12!  There will be a flat $5 cost for general registration. This registration fee covers lunch and all sessions.  You can attend anywhere from 1-3 sessions during the day and learn about a whole bunch of really awesome (and useful) stuff!  The event will last from 9 AM until 2 PM and include three sessions:

  • Session One: 9-10:15am
  • Session Two: 10:20am-11:35pm
  • Lunch: 11:35-12:05pm
  • Whole Group Activity 12:05-12:25pm
  • Session Three: 12:30-1:45pm

Plan to attend one session or spend the day.   Bring along a friend!  Community members (non 4-H members) and parents are ABSOLUTELY welcome to attend! Most sessions are open to members, leaders, and parents but may be geared towards different ages based on the subject being taught.  There will be a funding request listening session at lunch for 4-H families. Subs will be served for lunch or you can bring a lunch with you.  In the registration you will be able to denote any food allergies or concerns that we need to be aware of.

Be sure to really take a look at the different sessions offered and choose which workshops or programs sound like a blast and fill out the online registration with your top choices.  Spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis so sign up early!  There will be no refunds after Friday, October 26th. 

SESSION 1 DESCRIPTIONS (2018):

  • Silly Circuits – Grade 3 and Up, Maximum 24 participants
    • Have you ever wondered what makes the lights turn on or how your tablet works? We will be looking at what makes circuits work by build some of our very own! We will make all sorts of fun electronics and you can bring home a circuit of your very own!
  • Code Your World – Grade 5-10, Maximum 15 participants
    • Interested in learning about Computer Programming and Coding? Come check out this session where you will do numerous different activities that teach you about artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, and program design.
  • Ambassador Training – Need to be an Ambassador to Participate
    • Are you an ambassador for the 2018-2019 4-H Year? If so, you’ll need to attend this training session where you will meet your fellow ambassadors, learn more about the program, and set up events for the year!
  • Knowing Your Livestock – Any Age, Will count as additional education event for YQCA
    • This will be a discussion about different breeds of cattle, sheep, and hogs. Participants will break into groups or work alone and assemble a new breed of their favorite species that meets a niche or a need in the industry. This program will also count as an additional educational event for fair eligibility.
  • Apple Pie Making – Grade 4 and Up, Maximum of 8 Participants
    • It’s fall and that means – time for apple pie! Learn how to make mini-apple pies during this session. You’ll get to take them home to eat later!
  • 4-H Fun with Flowers! – Any Age, Maximum of 10 Participants
    • We will talk about easy ways to incorporate flowers into your everyday life. The class will cover basic floral design principals, color selection, and availability of local grown flowers and store bought flowers. Take home a floral bouquet in a creative vase, design your own corsage or boutonniere and learn the basics on making a floral crown. Class limit 10 participants, $5.00 fee for materials.
    • There is an additional $5.00 fee for this session.
  • Thanksgiving/Fall Cards – Any Age, Maximum of 12 Participants
    • Want to send out some holiday cheer? Come to this session to make some different Thanksgiving and fall themed cards!
    • There is an additional $5.00 fee for this session.

SESSION 2 DESCRIPTIONS (2018):

  • 4-H Fun with Flowers! – Any Age, Maximum of 10 Participants
    • We will talk about easy ways to incorporate flowers into your everyday life. The class will cover basic floral design principals, color selection, and availability of local grown flowers and store bought flowers. Take home a floral bouquet in a creative vase, design your own corsage or boutonniere and learn the basics on making a floral crown. Class limit 10 participants, $5.00 fee for materials.
    • There is an additional $5.00 fee for this session.
  • Lego Engineers – Grade K -3, Maximum of 12 Participants
    • We will be using Lego’s to complete design challenges just like real engineers. See who can build the tallest tower, make an impossible maze, and invent solutions to real world issues. Let your imagination run free and come build with us!
  • 4-H Club Officer Training – Any Age
    • Any new, existing, or returning 4-H Club Officers are invited to join us for this training session in which you will learn about the different positions, fun ways to run a meeting, and also the importance of your roles as 4-H Club Leaders! This is a great session for both new and returning officers, as well as club leaders if you are interested!
  • Fall Crafting: Mason Jar Luminaries – Any Age, Maximum of 15 participants
    • Get in the mood for fall by making this amazing fall craft! We will make mason jar luminaries during this session, which will be great for your fall decor, or as a gift!
  • Snickerdoodle Cookies – Grades 3-5, Maximum of 10 Participants
    • Chocolate chip cookies are great and all, but have you ever tried Snickerdoodle cookies?! They are delicious and you’ll get the chance to learn how to make them during this sessions!
  • Christmas/Winter Cards – Any Age, Maximum of 12 Participants
    • Want to send out some holiday cheer? Come to this session to make some different Christmas and winter themed cards!
    • There is an additional $5.00 fee for this session.

SESSION 3 DESCRIPTIONS (2018):

  • 4-H Fun with Flowers! – Any Age, Maximum of 10 Participants

  • 4-H New Volunteer Orientation – Adults
    • This course is required for any new 4-H volunteer and will cover all mandatory trainings that need to be completed in order to become a 4-H volunteer. This is also a great way to learn all about 4-H as an adult and how you can help youth in the county grow!
  • Scrapbooking 101 – Any Age, Maximum of 15 Participants
    • Do you have an interest in learning creative ways to share your memories? Have you ever wanted to learn how to scrapbook? Well, come check out this beginning scrapbook class to learn more!
  • Easy Fruit Pizza – Any Age, Maximum of 10 Participants
    • Do you want to learn how to make a quick, easy, and delicious snack for get-togethers, or just as a great after school snack?! Then learning how to make fruit pizza is perfect for you!
  • Building Your Own Water Slide! – Grade 2-3, Maximum of 15 Participants
    • Learn about how science and building come together to create the fun of a water slide! This is a hands on activity that will be sure to teach and inspire lots of fun!
  • Christmas Ornaments – Any Age, Maximum of 12 Participants
    • Looking for a new way to spruce up your Christmas tree? Come make some really neat ornaments for your tree, or for gifts to others this year!
    • There is an additional $5.00 fee for this session.
  • Fall Crafting: Wreath – Any Age, Maximum of 15 Participants
    • Get in the mood for fall by making this amazing fall craft! We will make a wreath during this session, which will be great for your front door, bedroom door, wall, or as a gift!
